Bio
Born and raised in South Texas, Yvette Sanchez has always loved
photography. Yvette Sanchez is a professional fine art and documentary photographer based in Portland, Oregon where she lives with her life partner and their fur babies.
Sanchez has her BFA in Digital Photography from Southern New Hampshire University, along with her MA degree in Photography and finishing her MFA degree as well from the Academy of Art University.
Only a year after completing her bachelor’s degree, Sanchez’s mother suffered a stroke. Sanchez became determined to capture her end-of-life journey and made her the subject of her documentary “Living While Dying” while she completed her MA at the Academy of Arts University. A year after her mother’s passing, she decided to return to the Academy of Art University to complete what she and her mother started as she worked on finishing her MFA.
She strives to capture the beauty and complexities of life through photos and hopes to provide the same service to families who are experiencing similar losses of their loved ones. Her goal is to capture the moments beyond the stress and provide closure to the family.
Aside for end-of-life, Sanchez’s work is focused on documenting different life-stage events, such as birth. Her work has been featured in digital showcases across the globe, including at the Galerie Gora in Montreal, Canada, Valid World Hall in Barcelona, Spain and Matca Gallery in Hanoi, Vietnam.
